Today was the first day of my vacation that will last all the way through the New Year. This is one of my favorite times with my family although, same as it happens every year, I always get sick.
I did manage to lay in bed from 2pm until 8pm tonight, but my morning was filled with three different trips to the girls school. The first trip was to help Belle make a Gingerbread house. I did the same thing last year in Lily's class and was so thrilled to be doing it again this year with Belle.
That event lasted about an hour at which point I went home to get Drew and we headed back to school to have Belle's parent/teacher conference that we missed originally when I took them into the city to see the advanced screening of the latest Harry Potter movie.
When that was over, I dropped Drew at home and headed back to school again to be the mystery reader in Lily's class and I read The Night Before Christmas. Oh my goodness, the kids in her class were sooo cute.
When I walked in they were all sitting on the carpet waiting for me to start reading. During the story when I looked up and saw their faces, they were all so mesmerized. Kids are so cute, a little funny looking and awkward, but in such a cute, sweet way. Today was a great day for me and the level of participation that I had at my girl's school was much needed.
After the back and forth to school, Drew and I headed to Abercrombie to pick up some last minute gifts for the girls. When I got home, I climbed into bed and ate what I always eat when I am sick.......a little something Drew and I like to call Rock 'n Roll ice cream.
Each version of Rock 'n Roll ice cream changes depending on the ingredients in the house, but the taste is always slamming.
{This version contained Vanilla Bean ice cream with Christmas colored Oreo's and Trader Joe's Mint Cookies and of course, the final touch, Magic Shell.}
I did make it out of bed at 8pm, ate a light dinner, put the girls to bed and must now at 10pm, go join Drew to get a head start on some of the gift wrapping so that we are not up until 1am Christmas morning wrapping presents like we usually are.
I hope you guys are almost done with all of your wrapping too!!
