I have been trying to stick to a diet full of fresh veggies and fruits since I had my pipes cleaned out a few weeks ago. I have found that it is simply too hard for me to not eat pizza because that to me is like the equivalent of a body not needing water.
I have changed what I eat on our pizza night(s) though. Now I first have a salad slice and then I have another small slice where I basically rip all the cheese off of it. I know some people feel what is even the point in eating a slice of pizza when you rip all the cheese off of it, but it is a sacrifice I am willing to make for my insides not to mention the other added benefit to my hips and thighs. And when I only eat one regular slice I seem to savor it so much more.
What I have been doing quite well though is sticking to the promise to myself of eating one apple a day. I used to snack on a few bits of chocolate and I still do, but I make sure it is dark chocolate which is very beneficial to good health as it has lots of antioxidants. Instead I have given up the little Twix bars or the tiny Milky Way's and instead I eat my apple WITH the skin on, something my children could even imagine.
And now in the morning at work I drink this awesomely fresh strawberry-banana smoothie that our cafe sells. Bananas are sort of a no-no but I just sip on my smoothie and pretend I don't know that. I pretend that the need for potassium far outweighs the bad banana stopping-you-up-quality.
I also went out and bought a great blender so I can whip up my own smoothies at home and will show you how I do that soon. I mean I am obsessed with this smoothie and I could drink about eight of them a day, but everything in moderation, I know, singing to the choir.
