Belle and her raps.
Belle and her raps have become an almost daily occurrence in our family. Each rap differs depending on the day, her mood, MY mood and what kind of trouble she has found herself in that she is now trying to 'cute' herself out of. And sometimes she raps just because she can.
Belle has been extremely FUNKY lately, and feel free to interpret the meaning of funky as you will and Drew has taken great delight in saying that she is "JUST like me". True as a child, I was as some would describe 'a piece of work' and yes true, Belle does seem to be resembling many of my most wild characteristics, but what I find most disturbing about Drew's comments is that he did not meet me when I was eight, he met me when I was twenty-four, so how does he really know which part of me Belle is emulating??
Last Wednesday, Veteran's Day when we were all off, we took a ride out to Long Island to do some shopping. Belle starts this rap and she goes on and on and on with it and there is nothing else to do with that but laugh. She was so committed to it, for such a LONG time. She even threw in the whole human beat box thing, hand over mouth and was really going for it....and then a cop raced by us...
Put your hands in the air if you like to say Po Po, Po Pooo
I said Po Po, Po Po
I am a party pooper, I am a party pooper with the Po Po
It's the Po Po, I say Po Po, Po Po ah Po Po Po Po, it's the Po Po people. Say Po Po.
Raise your hands in the air. Raise your hands in the air. It's the Po Po
Giddie up, giddie up it's the Po Po.
And then last night's version was...
Boys tryin' to touch my junk junk. Boys trying to give me that funk funk.
Tic toc on the clock. Oh, ohh (and then a little Christina Aguilera-like singing in the highest possible key)
I'm talking about boys trying to get in my funk funk, trying to get in my junk junk.
I'm talking about boys touching my donkey donkey, awhhh owhhh (Christina again)
at which point she then points to her vagina and completely STOPS mid-song and asks,
Is this what is meant by junk?
We put an end to that song as quickly as it started.
And this last one is the one she does when she knows she is about two seconds away from some major trouble being brought down on her and nine times out of ten, it works. She makes me laugh. Every time. But mostly I laugh because honestly this kid is so cracked. And it goes a little something like this...
Cats and rabbits, cats and rabbits have some very funny habits
I really wish that I could accurately describe with words the intonation of this verse and what she sounds and looks like when she sings it over and over and over again. She tilts her head and clenches her jaw and moves her eyes up and down as she is singing. Now this one, this one is funny.
