Belle's teeth have been falling out at a record pace these last few weeks. Dinnertime has become quite a spectator sport in our house, watching the poor thing figure out which bite of food will be chewed by which tooth, or if she can manipulate the food correctly, she may even get lucky enough to have two teeth to help with a bite.
Most of her friends have already lost a majority of their teeth, but as a baby Belle was a late bloomer getting her teeth, so I suppose she will be one of the last to lose them.
Since I took the picture below, she has lost one of her top front teeth and even though it is Halloween, I won't scare you with that photo. Let's just say as Drew keeps reminding her, her new smile rounds out that Witch's costume with just the right level of reality. Who's my little snaggle tooth?
We had this conversation the morning after she lost her front tooth.
Lily: "Belle, wake up and check to see if the tooth fairy came?
Belle lifts her pillow and opens the envelope that she had the tooth in and finds a five dollar bill.
Belle: "Wow, that must be what the tooth fairy gives for front teeth because that is what Sydney and Joanna got for their front teeth."
That comment was exactly what the tooth fairy and being a kid is all about. I could not stop smiling when she said that because it was true innocence in its rarest form and proof positive that she categorically believes in the tooth fairy.
Lily: "I wonder how the tooth fairy carries the dollars for all of the kids." Me: "Why, how big do you think the tooth fairy is?" Belle: "I think she is really small, probably smaller than the dollars she is carrying." Lily: "Yeah, me too. I think she is really small, so yeah, it must be really hard to carry ALL of those dollars." Me: "Are you thinking she is as small as Tinkerbell maybe?" Both girls simultaneously, "Yes!" Lily: "I wonder where she gets her money?" Belle: "I think Santa Claus."
