Dear Lily:
Yesterday was your "Step Up Ceremony" from Pre-K. Mommy, Daddy and Belle came to watch your class perform. Belle was even allowed to miss an hour of school. In groups of three, you came to the microphone to tell the audience different aspects of what you learned this past year in Sister's class. Then you sang songs about Jesus and there were lots of laughs, and lots of claps. Then some more songs about Jesus.
After the ceremony, we filled up on lots of sugar and mingled with the other graduates and their parents. Daddy had to head to work and Belle had to head back to class. You and I took a quick trip to the doctor's office. Unfortunately, the downside to all of the fantastic swimming that we had been doing in our backyard pool, had proved to be detrimental to your ears. You had developed an inner ear infection and the doctor gave us some drops.
After the doctor, we headed back to school to get Belle. We then made our way to the outdoor mall and had lunch at California Pizza Kitchen with a few of your friends and their families. After lunch, you and the other kids ran in the sprinklers and had a ton of fun. We topped it all off with some ice cream and of course, a visit to Claire's for some earrings.
After what seemed like an eternity in Claire's, we finally went home to enjoy some relaxation. This day was also Mom and Dad's nine year wedding anniversary, so when Dad got home we had a nice dinner.
My beautiful Lily, you make me so proud. You were such a star up on that stage, singing all of the songs and mouthing everybody's part. I look at you and see a precious and intuitive soul. You think before you speak, you take each step with a certain purpose. You know exactly what you want, but you go after it in a way that belongs only to you. You are just special and I am so glad you belong to me.
Love always,
Mama
